Review and going live

The checks a campaign goes through before backers can pledge, what an operator decides, and which terms are locked.

No campaign takes pledges before it has been checked.

Submit for review

When you choose Submit for review, fundmysaas runs these checks and refuses the submission, with the list of what is missing, if one fails:

CheckWhat it needs
Payout accountYour Stripe account is verified and card payments are active.
RewardsAt least one reward, and every reward is of an allowed kind.
WordingNo word that offers a financial return in the title, the pitch or the rewards.
ObligationsYou accepted the founder obligations.
PrototypeA Build fund gives a working prototype, a Growth campaign its live product.

Each check is recorded with its result and the time.

The operator's review

An operator then checks by hand:

  • Claims. The claims about the product and its stage hold up.
  • Prototype. For a Build fund, the prototype opens and does what the campaign says. For Growth, the product is live and in use.

The campaign is approved only when every check has passed. The operator records a decision with a reason that you can read:

DecisionResult
ApproveThe campaign is approved.
Ask for changesThe campaign goes back to draft, and you fix what the reason says.
RefuseThe campaign is rejected and cannot be changed.

The criteria are the same for everyone. fundmysaas checks that the product is as promised, not how good it is. Every check and decision is logged with who made it and when.

While it is under review

A submitted campaign is locked. To change it, take it back to draft and submit it again.

Go live

Once the campaign is approved, choose Go live when you are ready. Backers can pledge from that moment. The campaign must end at least one day after you open it; if the date is too close, take it back to draft and ask for a new review with a later end.

What is locked once approved

These terms are what backers rely on, so they never change after approval:

  • the mode, the goal, the end date and the currency;
  • the payout account;
  • the launch deadline of a Ship pledge, except for the single extension.

You can still improve the title and the pitch, and add new rewards. The words rule keeps applying to every change.

Suspension

An operator can suspend an approved or live campaign, for example after a report or when a claim does not hold. A suspended campaign takes no more pledges.
