Launch proof and deadlines

How a funded Ship pledge is charged once you prove the launch, how to extend the launch deadline once, and what happens when it passes.

This page is about a Ship pledge. A Build fund is charged when the campaign ends and needs no proof.

When the goal is met

When the campaign ends at or above its goal, it becomes funded. Nobody has been charged yet. Backers are charged once your launch is confirmed.

If the goal is missed, the campaign fails and every pledge is released.

Prove your launch

From the campaign page, in Prove your launch, send:

  • the address of the live product;
  • a short statement of what is live.

An operator reviews the proof and decides. The decision and its reason are recorded. fundmysaas checks that the product is live as promised, not that it is good. When the launch is confirmed, the campaign becomes launched and the pledges are charged.

Each backer is charged the price of their reward on your Stripe account, and fundmysaas's fee is taken from each charge.

The launch deadline

You set a launch deadline when you create a Ship pledge. It is shown to backers at checkout and on the campaign page. If the product is not confirmed live by then, the campaign expires. Every pledge is released and nobody is charged.

Extending the deadline

If you need more time, you can extend the deadline once:

  • only while the deadline has not passed;
  • to a later date, by a year at most;
  • a second extension is not possible.

The campaign page then shows the extended date. After the extended date, pledges are released and nothing is charged.

Failed payments

If a backer's card is refused when the pledges are charged, that pledge becomes payment due and the backer is asked to pay. The pledge is collected once the payment goes through.

Build fund

A Build fund that meets its goal becomes succeeded when it ends, and the pledges are charged at that moment. Show a working prototype from the start, and keep the promises of the campaign. If a Build fund fails after charges, post an update on the work done and offer the remaining money back pro rata.
